Thank you for choosing our office. Here is what to bring, what happens during your first exam, and how to make the day go smoothly.
Getting to know you
At your first visit, our goal is to learn about your past dental experiences and put together a treatment plan that fits what you want for your smile today.
When you arrive, please be ready to fill out insurance and health information forms. You can also print our new patient forms ahead of time, fill them out, and bring them with you.
What to bring
Please let us know about any dental treatment you have had and any x-rays taken in the past year. Bring any questions or concerns you would like to talk over with the doctor.
Bring your dental insurance card and your driver's license. Having your insurance card helps us see your benefits on the day of your appointment and estimate your costs for future visits.
If you have dental insurance, please send us your insurance information at least 24 hours before your appointment. You can share it by phone or by email.
Your comprehensive exam
Your first exam usually takes about one to two hours, depending on your dental needs and the questions you have for the doctor.
Your dentist takes a full set of x-rays and does a thorough exam. A full set is generally taken about every three years. It helps your dentist check the teeth for decay, look at the condition of the roots, and look for gum problems, orthodontic needs, and TMJ (TMD) concerns.
These records help your dentist explain any dental problems they find and the treatment they recommend. Please ask questions. There are no silly questions.
Scheduling and cancellations
We try to schedule appointments at a time that works for you, when time is available. If you are booking for young children or school-age kids, keep in mind that children often have an easier time with morning visits.
If you need to cancel or change an appointment, please give us 48 hours notice. That time lets us offer the spot to another patient who needs care.

Do I need to fill out forms before I arrive?
It can save time. You can print our new patient forms, fill them out at home, and bring them to your appointment. Otherwise, please be ready to fill out insurance and health forms when you arrive.
When should I send my insurance information?
Please send it at least 24 hours before your appointment, by phone or email, and bring your insurance card to each visit. If your coverage changes, let us know at least 24 hours before your next appointment.
What if I need to cancel?
Please give us at least 48 hours notice so we can offer your appointment time to another patient.
